Product Description
Now you can have your dog share in the fun of a bike ride! Great exercise for you and your dog. The WalkyDog lets you relax and enjoy the company of friends and family while taking your dog along on bike rides. No need to leave your dog at the house or fumble with a lead. The Walkydog, "the third hand on your bike", handles your dog for you. It puts you back in charge, your dog will very soon realize this and restrain itself, even when passing a cat, squirrel or other distraction. The Walky Dog can be used with a collar or harness. We think the harness would be safer for your dog as it eliminates any choking hazard but it would increase the leverage your dog has with your bike. So you'll have to be the judge on whether to use a harness or a collar. The WalkyDog can be used for breeds that are a little closer to the ground. The WalkyDog "lead" can be extended to a maximum of 14". If you find that the combination of the height of your bike and the 14" lead isn't enough, you can attach the WalkyDog lead to another lead for additional length or, you can pretty easily replace the cord used in the WalkyDog lead with a cord of a custom length. You can purchase cord of this type at many hardware stores.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome product but still be careful out there.   January 7, 2009

I purchased the walky dog about a month ago and have been using it several times a week so this review is after at least 13+ times of using it. All in all it's very easy to install (5 min). Make sure when it's tight enough you tighten it further as my 35lb dog could still yank it around forward throughout the ride. By forward I mean I use it at an angle towards the back as my lower thigh was hitting the bar if it's at a 90' angle. It is definitely safe but you must still use caution as nothing is foolproof. I have a 2 yr old 35lb. Brittany spaniel which loves to run and chase anything that moves. The first time out when he pulled to the side i could hardly feel it which was great! My bike though is a light road bike and I was turning into a corner (slowly) when my dog suddenly saw a lizard and pulled us both into the turn causing me to fall. Luckily we were both fine but I figure when taking a turn if you slow down and the dog pulls towards the turn it's likely you may lose your balance. My dog is medium sized and I am not a small person at all so I believe those of you with larger dogs may really want to be careful. My medium dog can pull on this thing like you couldn't believe, we often ride between 13-15mph in the beginning. As I said, he loves to run. Usually we coast at around 8-12mph. I can still feel him pulling but nothing like before when I used to tie the leash to the bike. Also depending on your bike I was not able to attach mine any lower than the bike seat post, the bars are too thick. Which is fine but if i had a small dog I don't think the leash would reach that low (just in my case, you may want to check your bike bars). Overall I love it, it keeps my dog safe from the wheels and my feet, hardly feel the pull, and exercises us both. Keep in mind to gauge your dogs reaction, I had no issues with this because before I would tie the leash to the seat post on the bike and he was used to this. Also use a choker or harness, with my dog he can certainly pull us both. I can't imagine those who have a large dog. Also I guess since my bike is light and a road bike it's meant to go fast quite easily. Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for a biker and an active dog   December 25, 2008

I really love this product. I could not walk or run long enough to tire out our GS so we found this product and LOVE it. We go out almost daily and quiet a few folks have stopped and ask me how to get one of these. I'm even biking in the COLD weather just cause my dog LOVES it so much. He starts out around 18 MPH for the first mile or so, then averages 10 MPH after that and can go for 10 plus miles.

We love this so much it's on my bike and my husbands. It should only take you and your pet a few tries to both get comfortable and now I miss him if I go biking without my dog!

4 out of 5 stars This does Work   December 18, 2008

I have a rather out of control 73 lbs Dalmation/Pit Bull and much to my amazement this actually works!!! I do need to keep a close eye on the seat stem tightness vs the Walky Dog attachmennt tightness (initially she could twist my seat around as my seat stem was not tight enough).

With the Walky Dog I can get pulled around the block and have even prevented altercations with many dogs along the way.

Thank you for an alternative from being pulled at over 20 MPH on rollerblades!!! (Don't ask.)

5 out of 5 stars my girls love it!   December 12, 2008

I've been using the walkydog for a week now with my girls. My younger one (about 9 months and low 40 lb. range)is a puller and this is the only time she's allowed to pull. She pulls me down the street and if another bicyclist passes us the chase is on as the herding side in her comes out. I've clocked us going 14 mph under dog power only. I love to fly down the streets with her pulling me. It's such a blast! I let my dog decide how fast/slow she wants to go as she provides the go power and I steer us. Sometimes I supplement on the go power but mostly it's her doing it by herself. She knows when we get to a certain street she can run and she turns on the power. She sees other dogs and wants to stop or veer off to visit with them but she can't. I go slower with the older one, who's 7, as she's a non-puller. I trained my older one to run along the bike with the leash as a puppy. The girls know it's bike time when their harnesses come out and get put on as we only use a harness for the bike ride. I have blinky lights on their harnesses so they can be seen at night along with the lights on my bike. It has worked wonders for pooping out the youngster as one hour walks just weren't draining her energy enough. I can't recommend this product enough! I also highly recommend that you use a harness with this product especially for dogs that are pullers. I have two happy girls with their energy needs being met on a daily basis. It has been worth every dime to have two pooped out dogs at night.

5 out of 5 stars Happy bikers!   December 8, 2008
Samie Sam (Torrance, CA)
My dog loves his walky dog! It's easy to mount on the bike. We started slow and practiced turns. He caught on fast. My dog is a 98 lb boxer-lab mix. We had no problems with him pulling and feeling like he was going to pull the bike off balance. Believe it or not my dog had a smile on his face as we rode. He was jogging proud. He loves going every where with us. We did monitor our speed and distance. A 40-60 minute walk a day keeps him happy. This walky dog did so much more for him in a shorter amount of time. He was able to go the pace that's perfect for him. It was more of a jog. I'm not a jogger and can't provide that type of exercise but walky dog did. He was a different dog that evening. A happy well balanced dog. Anyone who has a high energy dog this will take the edge off. I will be alternating walks and walky dog. We love bicycle riding and now we can all go together.
