Great Camera, Great Service January 6, 2009 A. N. Boozer (Orange County, CA) I love my new camera! It is very small, takes wonderfully clear pictures, and has a great size screen. It is very easy to use. I am very happy with my purchase!
Nikon nice upgrade from my older model January 6, 2009 Uncle James This model is the best digital camera I have seen under $ 125 looks similar to the Casio a family member has only my Nikon has smaller lcd screen, otherwise, they are almost identical. wonder if Casio makes these for Nikon ? Get one today. I got Black so it has no reflections from the sun when I take photos of people.
Just buy it already, you won't be sorry!!! December 29, 2008 Michael K. Hestness (Sammamish, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a gift for someone on my list but after it was opened I found myself using it. This is a really nice little camera and takes very nice photo's for a point and shoot. My only complaint would be the delay between when you push the button and when it takes the pic, but as with any point and shoot you will get this delay so I'm not going to knock it. The bottom line is that you can't beat this little camera for the price.
Great camera December 21, 2008 Franz Galli (Guatemala) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's a great and compact camera. Takes great pictures, specially in outdoors. It takes pictures with great quality.
Decent Camera- If you only shoot stills December 20, 2008 B. Williams (Colorado) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I received my Coolpix L18 as a birthday gift. For photos, I'd give it only 2 stars. For video, considering what the camera is (a portable webcam), I'd give it 4 stars... Hence the 3 star rating. For a camera primarily designed for still pictures, the Coolpix camera does a decent job with video. If you're a video blogger, or just want something small that can fit in your pocket, then the Coolpix camera might be for you. HOWEVER, if you're taking photos of anything other than stationary objects, you will find this camera to be quite frustrating. There is a shutter lag of nearly two seconds, which is plenty of time for a moving object to leave the field of the viewfinder or change to an undesirable position. I had hoped that disabling the flash (to get rid of the pre-flash) would eliminate this problem, and while there is a slight decrease in the delay, it's not enough to make a big difference. In addition, there are problems with the auto-focus. It has some nice functions for focusing on faces, but if you like to take close-ups (as I do with my nature photography... with flowers and butterflies), you can expect your subject to be completely fuzzy and out of focus. This is also a problem in low-light conditions with photos that aren't close-up. Sure, this camera can take some decent pictures, but if you want to take pictures at sporting events, animals, low light conditions and close-ups, DON'T GET THIS CAMERA!!! You will only develop a lot of frustration.
