Product Description JBL On Stage II, a compact, high-performance sound system, is a revolution in personal sound for all iPod players. Connected to your iPod, MP3 player or other music source, JBL On Stage II will provide clean, powerful sound. The wireless RF remote control provides the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room, or outside, from up to 50 feet. Play, pause, forward track and reverse track... all at your fingertips. A simple press will increase or decrease volume, mute and more. A convenient clip keeps the remote handy, as you move about your environment.
Amazon.com Product Description Set your music free as only JBL can do it with the black On Stage II iPod speaker system. The compact yet powerful high-performance system employs a quartet of Odyssey neodymium full-range drivers to fill your room with clear, accurate sound and all the volume you (and your friends and neighbors) can handle. It's the perfect accessory for bedrooms, smallish apartments, basements, and any other space where a full-size speaker system is pure overkill. The On Stage II incorporates Apple's universal iPod dock adapter, which works with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G. Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you're set--no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the On Stage II also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your On Stage II speaker. As a bonus, the On Stage II comes with a wireless remote control, giving you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room--up to 50 feet away (including through walls). The system itself, meanwhile, includes easy-to-use touch controls for the volume and mute, and even remembers your last volume setting after it shuts down. The system, which offers a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, measures 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall and weighs 1 pound. It's also backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box On Stage II speaker system, wireless remote control, power cord, user's manual.

Doesn't charge newest ipods November 17, 2008 J. Fletcher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I returned this and got the 'P' version (all black including the speaker screen). The new version charges the new ipods (new nano 4G, itouch, iphones). Plus it's shielded so it doesnt screech when u have an iphone attached to it and u get a call.
good sound for a small space November 4, 2008 J. Stein (vero beach fl usa) I purchased this item based on the reviews of other purchasers. Maybe I am too fussy, but I think the sound is a little 'tinny'...still, it is capable of producing adequate sound in a small room and the price was reasonable. It didn't work when I first set it up, but the unit battery was absolutely flat....charged it up on my computer, tried again, and it worked just fine. And, I think I may be able to tweak the equalizer to generate better sound on future recordings.
Just what I wanted! October 29, 2008 M. Cook My wife and I wanted a way to listen to music in our sitting room without being obtrusive and this was a great solution. Small enough that it hides behind a picture frame, the JBL produces a sound big enough to fill our first floor but crisp enough to be clear at lower volumes. The sound is slightly reminiscent of Bose sound (less bass, more natural) and does not seem to suffer from distortion (so far). The remote is a handy feature, though like all things related to iPod it is tiny and I'm sure it will get lost too soon. Like other docks, the JBL does charge the iPod. However, compared to the Bose unit, this one seems smaller - I'm actually tempted to start bringing it to the office with me. I would not consider using this as a main sound setup. Most desktop computer speakers can probably outperform this unit. But, for a low price, and for out of the way use, I absolutely recommend the On Stage. The JBL brand means that it is a quality speaker that will last.
good for short term use October 25, 2008 Lee (USA) Good sound at first, but after a few months the quality reduced dramatically. Volume changes on its own for one, and there is a crackling sound that comes along with the bass. Would not get this unless you want something that lasts less than a year.
Nice, especially for the prce. October 24, 2008 Duncan J. Maclean Mine arrived today and sounds very clear, no crackling noises as others have mentioned on various reviews. I'm particular about my sounds, this is clean and crisp. This for travel, and it will work very well for what I wanted it for. For home use, I'd probably get a Bose though. But for $68 it is nice. I've tried one or two out and never really liked the size, this one is about right. The instructions are concise, cables and remote are very handy. A protective cover/case would have been great. The remote is basic, no options for scrolling through the menus. The instructions says the Classic has to connected via the 3.5mm jack, this is not true, mine is running very well in the dock. Currently I have tried a few different styles of music, and so far, so good.
