Piece of Junk December 3, 2008 Keiko (Honolulu, HI, USA) I like the features when I did some research and the fact they're not made in China like most of the LED flashlights out in the market. It had great intensity and worked well until the switch started to intermitently misfire then not light up anymore, not even through the 1st set of batteries. I bought 2 and both went bad after about 2 months. I'm sending them back to Mag Instrument for warranty repairs and hope they fixed the problem. I would not recommend this light to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
Maglite reliability, small flashlight, strong LED with a lot of light.... November 29, 2008 S. vaneck Yeah, it is pretty much a given that this wont have great battery life, but it appears they put the same power LED light in this as their larger flashlights, so you get a significant amount of good quality light from a small flashlight. As usual, it has the solid construction of previous Maglite branded products. Cons... 1. The other 2 AA Maglite has a hole through the bottom cap for you to attach a lanyard. This one doesn't. 2. For camping, I'd say the light itself is almost too bright for candle mode. Too blinding. The other 2 AA model puts out enough light that you can see, but not so much that your night vision is completely fried. 3. The focusing ability isn't great, but I am very impressed with the amount of light it puts out. Even without the ability to really focus on a point, when pointing it at objects in the distance (tree branches 80-100 ft away, I was seeing them about as well as I would with a good 4D flashlight. Additionally, I've got a good view of the stuff nearby as well. Still, what's the point of having the focus function if it done so poorly? There might be better tactical/police flashlights for twice the price, but I don't think you can beat the combination of light output and reliability.
He has worked a pair of hours! November 22, 2008 D. Straus (Roseville CA USA) After a first set of batteries, the rotating switch has a misfire which makes me unable to turn it on. Moreover, the reflector turns blue due to the reflective coatings that it's out... So expensive for what it is. Only the red color of light is today the only poor consolation.
A very low cost, useful, well made flashlight November 17, 2008 A. Huang (So. Cal.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great little flashlight. My second AA Mini Mag. Compared to my regular AA Mini Mag that I converted to LED with the Nite Ize LED/IQ switch upgrade this is cheaper and has a more adjustable/wider beam pattern. My only complaint with this is the twist to turn on feature that makes it pretty much a two handed operation to turn it on/off. The Nite Ize IQ switch makes it a one handed operation. Still a very useful and convenient little flashlight. I find I use these more than my 5W Luxeon converted Maglite.
