Amazon.com Review
From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.

An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sauteing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered saute pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Best Cookwear Ever!   November 25, 2008

I've had this cookware for over three years and it's the best I have ever owned. It cooks evenly and is incredibly easy to clean (even burned food was no match for its non-stick surface.)After all of this time, it still looks new. It also continues to be the first thing I reach for whenever I get ready to dive into cooking.

This cookware is the first thing my grown daughters reach for when *they* get ready to cook, as well. A few months after purchasing my own set, I bought a set for each of them. (The pots were on sale and I couldn't resist.)

One of my daughter's friends then loved the cookware so much that she soon purchased a set. And the list goes on...We've probably put Amazon's youngest child through college by now with our daisy chain purchases of these pots.

They really are good. And that's an understatement.

Bottom line? This set o'pots rocks.

I bought Tools of the Trade Belgique and returned it after I noticed some rust on the "stainless" ring round the cover. I bought this set based on the all positive review it received. Its my first non stick set so I am trully amazed by the non stick properties.Nothing sticks on it.I would have loved for it to have a steam outlet on the cover as it would help with keeping the outer part clean.Otherwise,I am happy with the purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Love them   November 24, 2008

I bought these back in March and I love them. They are used everyday and have held up great. No sticking so the clean up is easy. FYI: for storage just flip the lid upside down on top of the pot and stack the smaller pots on top. Flipping the lids keeps the inside of the pans from getting scratched.

Love the quality of the cookware. Easy to cook with and cleanup is wonderful. My only minor disappointment is that they are somewhat smaller than my other cookware, but since there are only 2 of us it doesn't really matter.

I found the reviews for this cookware insightful, but with an item such as this, my wife and I wanted to see this product in person first. We went to our local Kohl's store and found this exact set on sale. The price was better on Amazon, so our intent was to handle the display set first and then purchase it online. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. I picked up the large fryer pan (with the lid) and the first thing I noticed was the flexing of the handle. If I chose to, I could have easily taken handle and it bent it 90 degrees, if not completely off, the pan itself. I believe this happened due to the two rivets (which hold the handle onto the pan) being so close together, combined with the rather thin sides of the pan. This was a deal breaker for us, period. Depending on what you cook, food can weigh a lot, and I was not comfortable with a handle that had that much flex. Overall, the set was nice, but this one issue was enough for us to say no. We are not going to pay more than $100 for a cookware set with handles like this set has.

We understand that the more you pay, the better quality you get. For cookware under $200, there will be some tradeoff's. However, regardless of their stated warranty on the quality, I was disappointed that the handles had any flex at all. It was unacceptable.

Depending on the sale price you get for this set, it could be a good value, but beware of the handles on this set, especially on the large fryers, where more stress is put on handle.
